We are thrilled to invite you to Sk8 to Elimin8 Cancer Lake Placid on Saturday, February 22nd, from 4:00–6:00 PM at the iconic James C. Sheffield Speed Skating Oval at the Lake Placid Olympic Center. This year’s event carries special significance as we celebrate the anniversary of Miracle Day, with Olympic gold medalist Scott Hamilton joining us for this inspiring occasion!
On February 22, 1980, the U.S. Men’s Ice Hockey Team stunned the world by defeating the Soviet Union in the Winter Olympics—a moment forever remembered as the “Miracle on Ice.” This historic achievement is more than a sports victory; it embodies the values of determination, resilience, teamwork, and the belief that nothing is impossible. These values are at the heart of our mission as we come together to fight cancer. Just as the Miracle on Ice inspires us to dream big and overcome the odds, Sk8 to Elimin8 Cancer unites us in the fight to conquer this disease and support those impacted by it.
Sign up today and join us to skate 13 laps on the Olympic Oval. Together, we’ll celebrate perseverance, honor those impacted by cancer, and take meaningful steps toward a future without this disease.
Proceeds from this event will support CARES' national cancer research and the Merrill Oncology Center Travel Fund at Adirondack Health.
